The Librarian Who Measured the Earth was my first non-fiction picture book. When the publisher sent me the manuscript, I thought they had made a mistake and sent it to the wrong person. All of my previous books had been called "quirky". I called them back and said, "Do you know what I am going to do to ancient Greece?" They laughed and assured me I was the one they wanted. So this book is full of curious boys catching frogs, stubborn camels, nosey dogs, and lots of other funny details.
